Swing in the Mountains Festival - Kind of Jazz - Soul

From August 9 to 16, Serre Chevalier will host the 23rd edition of the Swing in the Mountains Festival, in a friendly atmosphere.
A festival rich in programming and artistic diversity, highlighting swing, blues, gospel, soul, jazz, and polyphonic singing from around the world.
The festival will pay tribute to the great Jamaican artist Jimmy Cliff, who left us a musical legacy filled with love and peace.
The festival's patroness is Emily Johnson, discovered by John McLaughlin and produced by Narada Michael Walden, the legendary Oscar-winning producer known for his work with Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and Mariah Carey.
Kind of Jazz - Soul:
A charismatic trio that revisits the great standards of soul music by adding a very personal jazz touch.
Kind of Jazz is a jazz trio that offers an elegant and modern reinterpretation of soul standards, led by a singer with a warm presence, a creative pianist, and a bassist with subtle playing.
Christie is a soul and jazz singer, driven by a deep passion for music. Nurtured by soul and funk since childhood, she has developed a warm and expressive singing style. She now performs with the group Kind of Jazz, with which she offers lively and elegant music, colored by jazz.
Yannick Chauvin started classical piano at the age of 7, before quickly turning to jazz and taking harmony and composition lessons from the age of 13. After several years of training in various jazz schools, he participated in numerous projects before joining the CNRS Big Band in Marseille in 2016. In 2022, he created the trio Kind of Jazz, within which he carries out a large part of the arrangements.
Matteo Sgarzi is an Italian jazz double bassist/bassist, based in Marseille since 2013, recognized for his warmth and versatility. He brings a rich jazz color both in intimate trios centered on voice (Kind of Jazz) and in larger, more inventive ensembles (the quintet Prezzaj, or the recently formed ALE quartet, or the Italian quartet SLAM!).
